I’d Meditate, but I Don’t Know How
When I was young, my VERY religious and beautifully well-intentioned mother warned me against yoga because of the meditation element. Meditation was bad, and was for hippies, apparently.
Minds are quite a bit more open to the idea of meditation these days. However, I’m astounded by the number of people who say they’d do it if they knew how. It’s just unthinkable in our society for anyone to take a moment, or five minutes or even ten to be still and be aware. That’s all mindfulness meditation is. The more aware of yourself, your breath, your body’s actual sensations, your thought patterns, the more in touch and in tune with reality you will be.
